Meet Dr. Donte Jochum-Nesbitt D.D.S., M.S. (Dr. Nesbitt)

Dr. Donte Jochum-Nesbitt (Dr. Nesbitt) grew up in Rock Island, IL, about 3 hours west of Chicago. After high school, he continued his education at the University of Iowa, becoming the first in his family to earn a college degree. At the University he was an Iowa Hawkeye cheerleader, a campus tour guide, and led small-group tutoring sessions for chemistry/ biology. Dr. Nesbitt’s passion for helping patients achieve beautiful, healthy smiles came from working as a dental assistant in an orthodontic office while at the University.

Motivated by that experience, Dr. Nesbitt continued his education at the University of Iowa to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Being elected class president every year he attended dental school he maintained his active involvement in leadership roles as a founding member of the Student Advisory Board, President of the Iowa Chapter of the American Student Dental Association, and member of the Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity.

After dental school, Dr. Nesbitt received his Orthodontic Specialty Certificate and Masters in Oral Biology (MS) from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. During his residency, he conducted original research focused on aerosol generation from orthodontic procedures and compared mitigation strategies to best protect patients during these procedures.

Dr. Nesbitt’s goal is to provide his community with high-quality, modern orthodontic care – and to do so with genuine enthusiasm, warmth, and FUN. All the while, remaining committed to building trusting, long-term relationships with his patients and their families. He is cheerfully married to his partner, Nathan, and they have a 12-year-old Yorkie they adopted together in 2020. Donte, Nathan, and Queenie are all thrilled to have found such a lovely, vibrant community to make home!
